Rejuvenation
Rejuvenation is the opposite of aging. Many people are now more concerned with their looks and the hope of a better and longer life. This is why rejuvenation is a process that has been on the table for quite some time and both companies and scientists continue to invest time and money in it. Life extension techniques are now discussed and many doctors are doing real progress with this issue.
Replacing a damaged tissue is no longer a problem, and not even replacing damaged organs. But many of the techniques for extending life do not think about rejuvenation. The body ages and as it does this, it accumulates the damaged cells. It is quite hard to rejuvenate cells that reached a certain maturity but many experiments have shown that growth hormones have a lot of success in dealing with rejuvenation.
Many of these experiments deal with:
-
HGH – human growth hormone (HGH)
-
the sexual hormones like testosterone or estrogen/progesterone
-
insulin
-
erithropoietin (EPO)
-
DHEA
-
melatonin
-
thyroid
-
pregnenolone.
The theory says that these hormones determine the body to get younger and restore most of the functions. Many attempts have a lot of traditionally approaches but some of them are quite bold. There are more revolutionary techniques like changing the DNA sequencing but these are just experimental and it will take years until they will be approved for mainstream usage. Stem cells seem to be the best bet as they have the remarkable possibility to mimic the other cells where they are placed. A lot of people have benefited from this technique over the years, with very few or no side effects.
Regenerative medicine is now using 3 different strategies:
-
Implantation of the stem cells using a culture and placing in the existing tissue structure
-
Implantation of the stem cells in a kind of tissue scaffold guiding restoration
-
Induction of the residual cells of the tissue structure in order to regenerate the body part.
